I'm about to build a new gaming PC, just wanted to run it by everyone. My main concern is the RAM/Motherboard compatibility,....

RAM (I'll be using 4 GB of this)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231065

CPU:
C2D E6600

CPU Cooling:

Mobo:

GPU:

Case:

All of that with a SATA DVD-RW and DVD-ROM. Going to try to get the E6600 to a modest 3 Ghz or so, I've never overclocked before.

Looks good.

If the CPU your getting is retailed boxed then you don't need any aftermarket heatsink & fan unless you plan to overclock. Using the stock HSF will allow you to keep the warranty on the CPU.

If your using a 32-bit version of Windows... it will only be able to utilize about 3 to 3.2 GB of memory so... anything over it will be wasted.

You need to use the 64-bit version of Windows if you want to utilize more than 3 to 3.2 GB of memory.

***The memory should be compatible with your board.

Here are a list of memory that have been tested for your board:

The CPU will be retail boxed but I plan to overclock to a little over 3 Ghz.

For now I will be using 32-bit Windows XP, but I plan to upgrade to 64-bit Vista once SP-1 comes out, so I'll order the extra RAM now while it's cheap (about $120 for 2GB).

I haven't overclocked anything before so this will be new to me. I need to find some good reading material for overclocking. I heard the Intel board and RAM that I chose are both great for overclocking.
