What is a good CPU temp for a Core 2 Duo E6600. I just got my sysytem running and in the bios its registering 50 C is this to hot. Im using stock cooler and thermal grease. Would some one also tell me the max that the temp should hit. Thanks for your help.

I have been dealing with a high temp problem myself. I just built a C2D E6600 on an ASUS P5B Deluxe. My BIOS temp read 65 degrees. Turns out that was quite a bit off. Something to do with the way it's calculated. Google and download the small program CoreTemp. It will give you a more accurate reading on both cores. Honestly I'm no expert but if you read some of the responses on my recent post it'll probably answer most of your questions. Great info that solved my problem.
Try here: Attaching the stock cooler...... (http://www.forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=180475)

What motherboard are you using? The ASUS line mis-report the temps in BIOS by more than 10 degrees. 50C is a bit hot, so double check the procedures Adams linked to. Something in the 40s is fine (According to what the bios reports).
Once you've installed windows, download and run Core Temp to get an accurate temperature report.

If your system is running stable then your good to go. Don't even worry about the temps too much.
