That's the board I'm running for my new build. Last couple pieces needed to fire it up are in transit from the Egg right now. I'll let you know by the weekend how it works.

This seems to be a great board from all I've seen about it. Note that most reviews are for version 1.3 with bios rev. 4-5. Newest model shipping from Newegg is version 3.3 with bios rev. 10. It is now rated for quad core and 1333 FSB! (stickers on the box reflect the latest changes -- you won't find that in any literature)

That's a good board, but I'd rather have an ASUS P5B. ASUS have proved over the years that they manufacture consistently top quality boards.

ASUS now owns Gigabyte but that doesn't mean the ASUS quality will migrate down to the Gigabyte motherboards.

Gigabyte motherboards have always been seen as middle tier motherboards that have decent quality but can be flakey or quirky. In the past they liked to rush the latest technology to market so they could be the first on the block with the latest wizbang features. But this meant the earlier motherboards of the series tended to be buggy and it took a few PCB revisions to get the motherboards stable.

Given the choice between a ASUS and a Gigabyte motherboard I'd take the ASUS everytime.

I know my buddy perfers gigabyte and he said this board has great reviews and work great for him

ASUS is the preferred brand by many... but there are other decent board makers out there too... just go with one that you like & make sure you do your research... don't worry about what other people think.
