I have four 500gig drives. Two are Raid 0 (striped) and includes my Windows XP Pro system and programs.
Two drives were Raid 0 striped for data storage (large video files etc.).

OK, for my own reasons
I tried to use the appropriate Silcon Image SATARAID setup software to convert the disks back toindividual hard drives but no luck - the drives just disappeared in Windows Explorer.

So I tried to reset them back to the Raid 0 (Striped) but the Raid 0 backup drive is still not shown in Windows Explorer.

I don't know what else to do at this point. Ideally I'd get the drives back to being individual drives but right now I have no backup at all.

Any help out there?

So when your are referring to "backup" you are talking about the two HDDs used for storage?

What do you see in Disk Management?

Thanks for your reply!
Thanks to this forum, I figured out how to initialize and reformat the RAID 0 drive.
What I am not sure how to do is to reverse the RAID 0 process so that I end up with
two independent hard drives (instead of one RAID 0 backup drive).

PS: do you know if it is possible to copy the RAID 0 that is my c:\ drive and make an copy of it
on another drive and use that as my c:\ ?

So all you had to do is right click on the drive in disk management and initialize it right?

As for your last question... I believe there are a few programs out there that can clone the Raid 0 setup and allow you to put it on a single hard drive... I need to look around for it first.

Acronis True Image will let you clone a Raid 0 to one drive.

I tried to search for a recommendation and couldn't, so thank you very much!
