Hey all i do appoligise if this is not the correct place to post on this topic but i am in desperate need of help from you technical experts!

The situation is this:

I have a network at home. It consists of an ADSL modem (512kbps/128kbps) which has a hub connected to it and then 4 PC's plugged into it so we can all use interent! Very common solution.

So I play a game called Battlefield 2 and get really good ping (usually under 20) as most of you will know when playing a game like Battlefield 2 and someone decides they will just start to download a full length application/movie/music using torrents through a file sharing program you end up getting a ping of like 700-2000!! With that annoying message on the screen that says "there is a problem with your connection" Then you get kicked off the server due to the high latency. Of course the game is unplayable with a ping higher than like 100 and even that is quite bad. Keep in mind we all have the same privligages. So like their isnt one administrator or anything its just 4 PC"s hooked up to the hub.

MY QUESTION:

Is there an application i can use that will allow me to limit a users bandwidth options. That is, is there an appliation I can get that I can open and say riteo lets just selecet this user whos IP is ***.***.***.** and block/limit them from downloading. It doesnt have to be a total block but a big reduction in their bandwidth would be quite enough to make them quit downloading leaving me to reap the rewards! (A low ping! :-) ) I've been searching for bandwith monitor and found many but I don't want to monitor or limit things on my computer I want to limit it on another users computer from my computer!! Does anyone know if this is possible????????????????? Please help!

Keep in mind we all have the same privligages. So like their isnt one administrator or anything its just 4 PC"s hooked up to the hub.

This might be your biggest hurdle. Theoretically, you could install something to regulate bandwidth on the other computers if you have the proper administrator privileges, but if the other users have those same privileges, then they could probably turn it off. Without the proper privileges, you may be stuck sharing bandwidth.

i do look for something like 'bandwidth controller', but your situation is OPPOSITE from mine. I need to download several large files/torrents and these online gaming keeps getting my download slower to a crawl. They do youtube/online radio etc..several of them, its annoying and the sounds are ALL mixed UP, its crazy, i do hope they let me finish first and i leave them in peace. They hate me as much as i hate them each time on the cafe's front door.

Some routers actually have a bandwidth management built in to them, so when one PC is using alot of b'width another can't steal it. Think it was a linksy router I saw this on.
