:( I have heard that AVG was good for protecting my system. I have no gripes about their firewall or anti-virus, but one thing I noticed is that their free version of AVG Spyware Removal is a piece of #^$%. I have tried both AVG and Webroot, and I have to say that AVG has not caught a single piece of spyware on my laptop since I installed it. I even went onto sites that I know would show up in a scan but still nothing. I am switching back to Webroot which tends to do a pretty god job at removing spyware from my system, but for some reason they have not updated their version for a while. Well anyways just wanted to let you PC Mechs out there know, and I was also wondering as to if anyone had any other suggestions for spyware removal?

Have you tried AdAware and Spybot?

They are pretty popular here and you can use both.

No one program does it all. You need to diversify; get AdAware SE, SpyBot, and the AVG AntiSpyware. You do not need an active spyware shield if you exercise good surfing habits and have a strong firewall. Run them all separately and quite often each catches something different.

I know that I was just remarking as to how AVG doesn't catch anything at all. But thanks for the tips guys.
