Hi,

I am having problems with my thumb drive. I am using Imation FlashGo!. When I try to save a new document say, MS Word I got the following error message:

"Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error"

I have reset my thumb drive to its factory settings. But I am still encountering the same problem.

Kindly advise. Thank you.

Do you have the External write protect switch activated?

Have you tried to save another Word Document? Does it do the same thing. It might be the file that have restrictions to be saved/copied to another storage device.

hello,

have you tried to transfer/copy files directly to your thumb drive? Maybe you can save through your hdd first then later copy it to your thumb drive? because 'maybe' ms office makes a '$' like a temp file then later it deletes it or some kind of encryption is built in.

br,

No. It occurs on all the Word doc that I want to save. But the strange thing is that when I try to save an excel file, I got a different error message; " The directory or file cannot be created"

Is it my thunb drive problem?

Do you have Live OneCare installed on your system. When I "Google" your issue... it seems that Live OneCare is the one causing the problems... uninstalling it usually resolves the problem.

Try connecting the thumb drive to another computer and see if the problem still exists... if not... then the original computer is the problem... if the problem still occurs with the thumb drive connected to the other computer... then the problems lies with the thumb drive itself.

If the problem is the computer... try updating Microsoft Office... there could be a bug issue.

If the prev post does not solve the problem. What system is this. Is this an Acer? Acer has a feature that will lock all drivers. So it wont allow you to save/copy anything.

Hi guys...Thanks for all your replies. i have managed to resolve it. Actually the problems lies with a file which prevents all files to be saved so I just move that file to a different location and delete it. After that, all files can now be saved.
