i need a decent cpu cooler to drop the temps 10 degrees or so on my E6420 which is overclocked to 3.0 ghz. something which is less than 50 dollars preferably, please post any suggestions.

Thermalright Ultra120..Scythe Infinity, Sunbeam Suniq Tower..and if your looking for bang/buck the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Available between $25-35 US.
And its not really possible to say how many degrees the temperature will drop, everybody's system is different. I would look to improve case cooling if you haven't already.

well the first three are a little more than 50, and the arctic cooling has those push pins which i dont like any other suggestions?

Why don't you like the pushpins? They work out great for my Thermaltake TMG 1i. I also use AS Ceremique for the TIM. It keeps my e6400 @ 3.5 CPU temps below 50C load and is very quiet, I'd highly recomend.

I have no other suggestions, these are some of the top performing heatsinks on the market for their price ranges. If I were in your position I would go for the Arctic Cooling Freezer. The Pushpins are a whole lot easier then the solutions on these other heatsinks, its also like half the price.

i think im gonna order the sunbeam tuniq from heatsink factory, they have it with ground shipping for $56

Thats cool, just make sure your case has the space for it. Its a great heatsink.

Yes..very much so, but thats for AMD cpu's, if you have a intel processor you need the Freezer 7 Pro version.
