So I got a signal booster last week to help extend the range of my family's home wireless network. They complained that they kept getting the signal dropped and I logged on to PCmech to discover an article that details what you should do If your network isnt performing up to snuff. I start going through the steps and I update the firmware on the router, change the channel and the "name" of the network...so now I have to follow suit with the signal booster.
Whoops. It appears that the default "admin" login with no password no longer works. Someone must have changed it, or I did and I forgot it. Is there any way to reset the password manually?! Surely there has to be one. I tried using the pinpunch reset button on the actual booster, but this didn't do anything for me...any ideas? I need help ! :)
Thanks !
Nick

Can you tell us the makes and models of the router and booster?

the manual has a "reset to factory defaults". it usually has to do with pushing button(s) and cycling the power simultaneously.
Be careful tho, this will lose all settings (like encryption keys) and they will have to be reentered manually.

it says in the manual that I need to restore to factory defaults...I have done this, and powered it on and off and it still wont reset the login to the server (default is admin w/ no password)

From page 39 of the manual, with pictures on page 40.
Reset the DWL-G710 to its factory default settings and restore the other devices
on your network to their default settings. You may do this by pressing the Reset
button on the back of the unit. You will lose the current configuration settings

Both manuals can be downloaded in pdf format from www.dlink.com you will need the firmware version from the bottom label of the DI-524 to enable you to download the correct version of the manual, the reset button is probably the same on all the DI units.
