Case with Dual power Supply

Anyone know a model/brand for a case with two spot where i can fit two power supply ?

i need some serious power for my next project , it's easy to jump start the second PSU with the first PSU... that's all i can say for now .. lol

Look at server cases - usually they have two power supplies for redundancy.

You can also get booster PSUs that fit into a cd drive bay slot.

the new antec p190 case has 2 power supplies with it. Like 1200 watts I think. Idk how much power you need though. It just got on newegg in the past couple days

Is there any specific reason why you need two powersupplies? Its rarely needed and one is better then two most of the time. You can also cause a crossloading between the rails if you don't put a proper load on both of the powersupplies.

Ya, and a price tag just as heavy! -- 1200 W... Hmmm, that's almost max'ed out for a typical home outlet.

Max home is 1800 Watts per circuit ( 120V x 15 Amp ) and all the outlets and lights in a room share the 15 Amp ( same circuit ) so if you use that 1200 W unit only 600 watts is remaining for monitors , printer .. etc .. just the lights can eat up to 120 watts ... i swapped the regular bulb for the new compact tube 13 watts each ... anyway i was already making some home restoration in the basement so while i was at it i rewired a single protected outlet in my computer room on his own circuit( insert a laughter of evil here ).

Im from canada so neweggs don't ship here but im sure i can find what Mr.Ferrari suggested , That cooler master case is just fine ... nothing too fancy , plenty of space and dual PSUs.

Why two PSU instead of just one ? because i already own several quality PSU so why buy a new one ?

Having 2 PSUs to share the same load mean less work for them , less noise and heat than a single unit ...


why i need this ? well next build is power hungry and i like to do crazy things ....

Thats cool. Just wondering, are you gonna make your own relay or adapter or just buy one?

And after you do it, I would check the rails with a DMM to make sure there isnt any cross loading between the 3 rails.

Because if one psu has a load on the 3.3v and 5v rails, while the other one doesnt, then you'll make the 12v on the psu rise very high..damaging the psu and whatever its powering, this can go vice versa on the first psu too.

But if you already have this figured, then good luck bro. Looks like a great project.

this is a nice case too , lots of space. But kinda weird having USB/headset plug on top ...but not a bad idea if the case sit on the ground .. easy reach.

I guess it's personal taste as to where the front panel connections are located. For people who have their cases on the floor, having the ports toward the top of the case is preferable to being at the very bottom of the case. With the ports on top, it also gives a place to set your digital camera, Ipod, etc., if you have the clearance of course. Good luck on choosing a case and be sure to let us know which one you decided on and also how it was to work in.
