Help with modem error please

Hi Guys

I have just re-installed Win ME on a pals computer, but am having problems getting an internet connection. This is an internal, dial-up modem.

Device manager says that the modem is working properly.
When I go to modem properties >Diagnostics > Com5(against the installed modem) and then highlight Com 5 and click on 'More Info', I get a blue error screen with error message - Error: OD : 0028 :0000003

I can then go back by pressing any key.

Any ideas what is happening please?

Would seem to me that the driver for the modem is either incorrect or corrupted. If it's a name brand PC (eg: HP, Dell, etc) then make sure you have loaded the original drivers that came with it. If you have done that already, try checking the PC manufacturer web site for updated drivers. Uninstall the modem through device manager and then reinstall using the new drivers.
