View Full Version : svchost.exe eating up the processor?

Lately I've been having instances where the computer would be at a near standstill, and when I check the task manager to see what the problem is, it's always svchost.exe. I googled it and as far as I can tell its in charge of running .dll's, but I don't know what program could be using it to hog up so much memory.

I'm running a fairly clean system since I reformatted and reinstalled windows very recently, and I've run hitman pro and things have come up fairly clean. So, if anyone has any thoughts of a solution, I would be truly grateful. :)

Seems I remember shutting off windows automatic update helped others with that problem.

Yup -- most of the time it is a stuck Windows upgrade.

It's more often Microsoft Update than Windows Update that causes the problem.
