Hi,

Has anyone had any problems running games on Vista-32. The following games cause my system to re-boot.

World of Warcraft
Ghost Recon
Splinter Cell

One game that seems to work is Supreme Commander. Played it for hours and no re-boot.

My system consists of the following:

CPU: Quad QX6700
Motherboard: AWD9-Max
Graphics: Asus 8800 GTX 768MB
Ram: 2GB OCZ 1150 MHz

I had a similar problem 3 years ago with a system I built but that turned out to be faulty memory and it only crashed the game, not my system.

I have updated the motherboard BIOS (version 15), installed the latest 975x chipset drivers and my system doesn't seem to be overheating as I have about 7 fans spread around my case.

Anyone got any ideas???

Have you checked for game patches?
Here's the current page for Oblivion patches, what's fixed what isn't and so on : http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=677511

Here's the home page for the Tom Clancy games.
I remember them as having Vista trouble with but check for updates : http://splintercell.us.ubi.com/

I did wonder about possible patches but I kinda ruled it out as the games load and seem to work fine. I guess the question would be why would a game only work for a certain amount of time and then crash if it had compatibility issues, but i'll check out the links. cheers

Oblivion, once before patching, had a notorious bug right at the beginning.
Everything went well till the Emperor showed up and then, when you tried to follow splat
There were also the the "game runs fine for 30 minutes ( substitute time here) but then I reached for ( Inventory item) and splat.
A good rule of thumb is check the forum (for that game) before install and patch as indicated.
