Is it ok to delete the installers of software once the software has been installed, rather than leave it sitting on desktop?
After running CC clean "Issues" on a new install quite a few reg keys were listed and I just went ahead and clicked on fix... Was this the right thing to do?
Now I have Avast, cc clean, and Spy Blaster on my PCs and setup full protection. One thing about flash blocking will this be a problem? Also if I try to do online banking will the elimination of all my cookies and tracking thingies be a problem? Where do I go to find out what settings to activate and which not to? Thanks

Typically, yes

Yes, but it is best to allow CCleaner to make a backup of your registry first, just in case you have an issue afterwards.

I'm not sure what you are asking here.

Eliminating tracking cookies should not affect your online banking.
What settings are you speaking of? If you are talking about cookies, just go to Start Menu>>Control Panel>>Internet Options>> and click on the tab labeled Privacy. You can move the slide bar to where your computer will not accept any cookies, if that is what you wish.

Thanks Kuch; Sorry, about garbling up the 'Flash' question... it seems that to view some graphics online 'Flash' is required?
I do intensive graphic and photography surfing, will blocking 'Flash' out keep me from viewing stuff?
Is there a way to set the anti-spy ware and ad blocking so that I can still view what I am interested in seeing? Guess this is a 'How To Use' these security programs? Are there some simple how to navigate the web using security programs and add-ons, (by simple I mean, I don't have to be a security tech to understand user reading material). lol
Are you using IE7? If you are, go to Tools>>Manage Add ons>>Enable/Disable Add Ons and see whether or not something like Adobe Flash is enabled. IE should also tell you if you need a specific add-on to view certain content. You will see the alert at the top of the page. You can decide for each situation if you want the add-on installed, and disable it later if you wish.
IE’s pop-up blocker should work the same way. Go to Tools>>Pop-Up Blocker>>Pop-Up Blocker Settings. You can adjust it to perform to your liking.
I also suggest just looking through the help topics of the security programs you have installed. Most of their default settings are good, but you may learn some new things from the help topics. Also, create a windows restore point and then play around with the applications themselves. It is probably the easiest way to learn them and nothing you have will do anything irreparable to your system so long as you create the restore point.

Just got a popup warning of the contra virus and that I should scan my pc immediately. Don't know what program the warning was being generated from. When I proceeded to scan it said I had 4 infected files. I got scared and not knowing what I was doing agree to have them removed. But every time I clicked on ok to remove an ed?? something .exe file downloaded. Good thing I have Firefox because it just puts file on desktop. I wound up deleting about 8 of these ed??.exe files from desktop, avast, cc clean, spy blaster and went to House Call where I got the whole system scanned and nothing was found? What do you make of this? Never happened before? win98se thanks
Do a complete scan of your system with avast. Set it to scan all files, within archives and everything, not just the infectable ones. I would also suggest you download spybot and adaware and after you install and update each one, do a scan of your system. Let us know if you have any other issues.

Running AVAST it has found a virus and worm associated with BitTorrent downloader in My Documents for Slackware11 download from which I burned install disks and CDs that I have not installed yet, gd thing! Moved them to the'Teasure Chest'. Still scanning, this is all on my old win98se. Hope it has not spread to my new XP box connected through 2wire gateway and USB KVM....
****Can't I just delete the'BitTorrent Download Folder' in my documents and uninstall BitTorrent?***
Is it possible that AVAST is reporting the Slackware11 download as infected because it was downloaded as BitTorrent ISO and the context is a different OS????? Its taking forever for it to scan the entire slackware11 download files that were kept in my doc\bittorrent\downloads???

Eliminating tracking cookies WILL make you have to sign in every time you go to your online banking website. There is a feature in ccleaner under "options", "cookies" where you can decide which cookies you do not want ccleaner to delete. Simply add them to the right screen and your sign in woes should go away.

Your hard drive has bad clusters/sectors and they really can't be repaired, the hard drive should be replaced.
Bad clusters/sectors is physical damage to the platter surface...the magnetic material is flaking off. It's like cancer and once it starts it just keeps getting worse and worse until the hard drive is unusable.
