need dimensions for video card

i was thinking about buying an evga geforce 8800 gtx card with 768mb pci-e, ive heard about a lot of people buying cards and realizing afterward it doesnt fit, my motherboard is an Albatron k8x890 and the case is mid tower ATX case with 500watt, i was also wondering if the original ddr is compatible with cards that use gddr3 im a little behind in the tech race but i found a sweet deal on that card that is hard to pass up

well, my 8800 gts only has 2 inches to spare i still had to move my hd because it woulnt fit in my apevia mid-tower with the hd in the way>and the GTX is almost 2 inches longer>
and a video card has nothing to do with the ram you have>
can you tell me how long your case is from front to back?>

the case is 17.5 inches exactly hopefully enough i was looking for a higher end 7000 series or a low 8000 hadnt made up my mind yet, yeah thanks i wasnt exactly sure about the ram ive got good ram it is just outdated i should upgrade that to at least ddr2 but the video card i have now is pretty horrible

As long as your motherboard supports PCI-E cards... you are fine.


In order to upgrade to DDR2 you will need a new motherboard that has support for DDR2 modules.




What is the brand and model of the PSU? You need to make sure it fits the video card requirements.

my case is 18.5 inches and my GTS only has a little less than 2 inches to spare:that means a GTX would not fit.

Height: 4.376 inches

Length: 10.5 inches


Go in your case and measure the area where the card would be installed and see if it will fit.
