i am using joomla. basically, what i want to do is to have a subdomain for each society in our consortium with a template customized specifically for them. but i want the data to all be the same (so when i update the news on one page, it updates them all).

is this just a matter of installing joomla on each of the subdomains, but having it point to the same database? i am guessing there is more to it than that because the images will all reside on one server. any help in this would be great. if i haven't explained this clearly enough, just let me know and i will try to explain it better

edit: may have jumped the gun on this. i think i found something that will work (Joomla multi-site Manager). sorry about that

That is the good thing about Joomla. There is so much development in the Joomla community that someone has probably already done something before.

yea, that is the main reason i am doing this site in joomla. the old site we are transitioning from is all hardcoded (shopping cart, individual pages, etc) and its getting annoying having to call up the developer every time something small needs to be changed. only issue we are running into right now is that the company prefers to use Microsoft Products whenever possible (old site done in ASP) and we are meeting resistance trying to get it moved over to PHP. we showed them the new design and they love the backend and they basically told us "we want that in ASP." so i have been instructed to keep working while my boss tries to push for us to move over to php.
