Hi everybody,

I'm about to start building a new PC soon, hopefully, and wanted to look at what some good options are as far as Internet Security Suites.

I basically want a good AntiVirus, Firewall, and an Anti-Spyware App all in one. I think that would just be more convienant for me.

Any recommendations?? Or would it be best to get all of these as individual programs?

I was looking at Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite 7, or maybe even Kaspersky Internet Security 6.

Thanks for any advice.

Will

are all those really necessary?? Would it be possible to get the same, or similar protection from just a few of those? I don't really feel like having to run 5, 6, or 7 scans.

Thanks,
Will

are all those really necessary?? Unfortunately it's best to use several security programs to help keep your computer safe. No one product will catch everything out there.Would it be possible to get the same, or similar protection from just a few of those? I don't really feel like having to run 5, 6, or 7 scans.lNot all of those programs aren scanners, some are blockers.

On this computer I have a AntiVir (a antivirus scanner), the WinXP SP2 firewall, Spybot (a manual malware scanner), Ad-Aware SE (a manual malware scanner), AVG AntiSpyware (a manual malware scanner), SpywareBlaster (a malware blocker), a modified HOSTS file (to block bad web sites) and IE Spyad (another bad web site blocker). With this setup I haven't gotten any viruses or spyware in a long time (over a year). I scan once a week with only 4 scanners (AntiVir, Ad-Aware SE, Spybot and AVG AntiSpyware).

If you really want to pay for a suite, buy AVG Internet Security.

appreciate everyones input.

i would hate for my new computer to get messed up like my current one cause of something that i could possibly prevent.

in my experience those security suites usually bog down systems pretty bad. I think you'd be better of using separate applications.
I do use AVG anti-virus + firewall -that seems to work well and rather easy on system resources.

Remember that there is no substitute for poor surfing habits. None of the suites mentioned can save you from yourself.

i know that im a little late, but i just wanted to add that either Kaspersky or AVG have the best and lightest security suites.

most of the top companies all detect viruses about the same, so its really about whats affordable to you, what features it has, and how 'heavy' it is.

there is nothing wrong with Norton and McAfee, but in my experience they have been a little slow and obtrusive.
