i am installing an e6420 into a p5b. and i have put the cpu into the slot. when i close the plate and try to close the lever i get really hard resistent. i mean really hard. i have checked 8000 times to make sure i followed everything correctly. what i noticed is that on the mobo lid, there is a bend in the middle on both sides that makes the end arch out. now is this a normal or should the lid be straight? any advice would be amazing right now

The "lid" does have a slight bend to it, that's normal.

It does take some force to lock down the "lid". Just make sure the CPU is oriented in the socket properly.

You did remove the black plastic protective cover from the socket, right?

yes i did, there was the black plastic cover on the lid, and a black plastic cover over the cpu pins that was removed. its lined up correctly, with the arrows, and fits right in with the notches. its just i feel as though i am putting to much force into it. maybe i expected a little less but it probably cuz i am nervous that i might break something. thanks for the reply cricket.

if the CPU is orientated correctly...go ahead and apply the 'pressure'

There is a good bit of force on that lever when locking the CPU in. Thats normal. You'll know if something is obviously wrong.

As long as you have the two arrows aligned, push the lever down and lock it.
