I found BF2 for $8 at a store near me. Beats newegg's 19.99, may buy the rest of the ones they have in stock and sell them on ebay! Anyways, im installing it now, but it says the activation code is on the lower left of the backside of the DVD case. I can't find it anywhere! Its probably right in front of me somewhere, anyone know where it is?

The game caught a lot of flak from people for bugs and whatnot, but personally, I never had a single bug or crash any of the times I've played it.

I don't mean to question the quality of the code shadowbreaker513 just the game play. I never liked the idea that you had to fight against jets with an M-16. Didn't seem fair to me. I also didn't like the idea that I couldn't get certain weapons until I reached a certain level. I think the guys who stink need the better weapons more than the guy who has been playing for 5000 hours.

5000 hours? even the ppl who have been playing non stop since the game came out have barely reached that.
The unlockable weapons are not necessarily better, just give you a differnt option on how to kill the enemy, I still prefer the stock weapons myself. Don't like Jets? hop into the static or Mobile AA. There are plenty of servers, and there seems to be less invincible jet jockeys then there were about a year ago. Or you have non air maps like Karkand (and beejeezus are there lots of servers playing those maps 24/7) and there is even an infantry only mode. Then there is Special Forces which is the expansion pack which is actually better than it's original. And Special Forces have NO JETS which is a big plus
Hop in an infantry only server as medic or support and you'll get those unlocks in no time, If special forces then you get twice the amount of unlocks and SF only has 1 round of unlocks so you'll be up to par with everyone else in just 3 unlock levels.

Thanks smidget. I don't want to hijack this thread any more than I already have (sorry inflames). But your words may have given me incentive to load it back up and try again.

Well, I wouldn't do it now, the stat system is down thus your 'online' benchmarks won't be recorded :p

It's a fun game, which I paid $60 for when it first came out :(

Cool Find, bro! Before it closed, the CompUSA near me had a real nice bargain kiosk, full of titles for b/w 5-20 dollars. Dungeon Siege, Max Payne 2, and a few others come to mind. It's always fun to come across a cool game that you can get for less.
BF2 was a pretty fun game for me. I played mostly single player with bots though, b/c my internet connection wasn't very good at the time. This game would make an OUTSTANDING LAN game, especially for those with older computers.

BF2 is still worth buying. If not for vanilla then for all the mods that have come out and will come out soon. PR is very good, Point of Existence and Forgotten hope will come out soon.
Our community just put back up ranked server, the game is still good with right people on... it's all about squads and teamwork!
Don't waste your time offline - the game is meant to be played online in squads...

I just reinstalled BF2 today after a long absence only to find myself absolutely amazed. The last time I played was well before the 1.41 patch (1.2, 1.3ish?) and my system only had 1 gig of ram. Before I could only play it at 1280x1024 with all graphics on medium or low (sometimes I was even forced to drop down into 1024x768) just to keep it running smoothly in all situations.
Now (knock on wood), after patching and a bump up to 1.5 gigs of slower ram I can play at 1280x1024 with everything on high and even include AA, all without a hitch! This may seem like a given to everyone with new computers, but to those still trying to scrap by with their dinosaurs (like myself), this is a remarkable achievement.
I've yet to even make the game stutter, so I'm going to continue boosting AA until I max it. I'm stuck at 1280x1024 because of my LCD monitor, or I would raise the resolution again.
Oh, and after my long hiatus do I still believe it's worth playing? Definitely, without a doubt. For $8 you got a bargain - I had to pay $60 for mine when it first came out.

The current patched up version seems to have eliminated a bunch of the old problems that were most often found in BF2. The main menu used to be a giant pain and extremely buggy, but in its current format it seems to be a huge improvement. BF2, now, is the way it should have been long time ago.

And Special Forces Expansion Pack is way better IMHO, no jets too

I bought GTA: San Andreas the other day for less than $10. Looks like you got the better deal IMO.

Well done awesome buy.. BF2 is still a very popular game and always in the top 5 Xfire most played hours. I prefer it over all other fps's at the minute and the gfx are still good for an oldish game now.

I've got it worse... I bought Guild Wars for $80 two years ago but still haven't had a chance to play it, can get it for $15 now, and there's been two sequels.
Eventually I'll find the time to play
