USB Device over Current Status Detected!!

In the title is the error I get when I first boot up my just built pc, then Shut down in 15 seconds. I was wondering if this has something to do with usbs pluged wrong from the case? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Would unplug the USB case connections to the motherboard and try booting again to see if the error goes away. Also, unplug any other USB devices. If you don't get errors, plug devices in one at a time. As for the case connections, double check the labeling on the wires and motherboard to pair up the correct connections.

Ok I unplugged usb from case and unpluged the usb for the mouse and still get same error?
Been trying to search for more info but no luck.

This started turning up with Asus boards for AMD and it looks like it's now moving to Intel.
It can be the bios : You can try resetting the cmos and/or replacing the cmos battery but if the problem is the bios, as it was for all the other boards, then you're looking at a bios flash.
This is a problem for Asus tech support, either follow their instructions or have them replace your motherboard.

and this might be worth checking out just so you know you've covered the bases but with 2 GB you shouldn't be running into that problem.

Thanks alot Pam123! I read all those links but I guess Im still a little bit confused on how to go about fixing the problem I can't even get in the bios screen and not sure if i could even solve this now on my own? I gotta go to work but today is my friday hopefully within next couple days i figure it out or find a shop locally that could help out.

Pull out the manual.
This will show you where the cmos battery and the jumper are located and give you the instructions on resetting the cmos.
If that doesn't work for you then contact Asus.
Depending on what happens with tech support it's a better idea to have Asus the exchange the board, since it's still under warranty, rather than void the warranty with a bios flash.

The Manual is very vauge on the CMOS reseting thing...though I tried (not sure if this was right way) it still said the same error and an additional one stating Overclocking has Failed Enter Settings to fix. Do I need to return my mb to newegg/Asus and get another or what?

The board goes back.
This problem is theirs, not yours.
Check the current bios version on the board, you don't want another one with the same problem.

have you got it to work (without the 15 seconds shutdown) before any usb device was plugged in? The last action prior to problem would help out. However if you plugged everything on the first boot you need to take note on w/c device was plugged

about the usb incorrectly plugged in, it can't be plugged incorrectly unless the usb device has a problem or was forced . is there be a pop/smoke or a smell happened?

did you attempt to connect 'external usb' from extra usb pins from your mobo?

I retried bootin it up once I took off the usb for the keyboard the mouse is pluged in throught the other option(its green/round). I even unplugged the connections from the Case usb to motherboard. One thing I did notice though that I just releazied after trying again is that when booted up my PC sounds really really quite like almost no noise thought there woulda been more noise? It's likely your version predates April.
Note the version number and put it into your email so whoever sends you the new board knows.
