I need a few parts but I haven't kept up with current technology since high school (7 years ago). As such I dont know whats what anymore, if I'm lucky you guys can help. I need:

Motherboard (SATA and PATA capable)
CPU
Ram
Video Card?
Audio?
Wireless Internet

I have everything else, I think. I'm trying to do this on a small budget and most of my time is spent online or in gimp. I use linux and if you need more info just ask. Thanks,
Joseph

400$? You'd prolly be better off getting a Dell then building. I think you can get them with Ubuntu now.

-CPU: Intel E2140 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116037) $81
-Motherboard: P5LD2 R2.0 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131048) $85
-Ram: Corsair VS 1GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145568) $37
-Video & Audio: Onboard
-Hard drive: Seagate 7200.10 160GB SATA (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148230) $54
-Optical: Liteon SATA (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106057) $38
-PSU & Case: Foxconn TS-1 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811153042) $45

Without the wireless NIC, that comes to a total of ~$340. If you wish to spend some more, a worthwhile upgrade would be the E4300 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115013) and add ~$36.

The closest dell is the E521 ($369) which comes Vista home and inferior specs.

And here is a good wireless card for $21:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315041

but if you really need the extra cash: (It's good...but not as good as the one above. Only $14)

Then again...maybe the wireless is a priority:
