My 1st Build, especially need help in the righ mobo

ive been researching alot, hopefully finding the right parts for my first build. this is my first attempt to build a computer mostly for gaming ( like counter strike source ).

i am hoping this would cost at a range of $1200, including moniter, spearkers, keyboard, stuff like that,

and finally the motherboard, which i am still currently clueless on what to get. the main thing i want is SLI technology, at both full x16, x16 speed. it would also be nice to have Onboard LAN and Onboard Audio(should not be a problem). i had come up with some suggestion but... mostly on the customer's review, there is alot of yucky stuff about it like DOA. i had some suggestion:

first off, you don't need a super computer to run source.

In my opinion, I always choose the Mobo first and when i found the right one, get the rest of the parts i want.

but in your case, if your not going to use SLI dont even bother, heck when i first got SLI tech on my mobo, i tought it was cool, and i never used it.
Onboard lan|audio, is common on almost every mobo nowaday.

-Definately stick to ONE videocard. Especially for your purposes. One good videocard will outperform 2 cheap ones. Get this videocard instead: Evga 8600GT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130085). IF you have the extra money and desire more power, opt for something like a X1950XT.

-Get one of these motherboards instead: Asus P5B (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131030) or Asus P5K (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131180).

would this build work?I wouldn't use a Samsung hard drive, they don't have the best reputation as far as reliability goes. I'd use a Seagate.

I wouldn't use the bundled power supply. Generally, bundled power supplies aren't the best quality. Something like what Cricket linked to would be a better choice.

Yes, but I would still get one of the motherboard I linked earlier. SLi is not worth it with low to middle range cards. Because by the time you want to add another, your probably better off selling both and buying a card thats more powerful..

Especially since your using high voltage albeit nice memory. In fact, if your not overly ambitious with your overclocking, a set of Corsair DDR2 800 5-5-5 should do well and are basically guaranteed to work on first boot.

P5K is stable, as is the P5B. The P5K is just newer...so you could have some issues, although no major ones have been reported.

To be honest, I went with the P5B in my latest build...just didn't see why to go P5K.
(I didn't need firewire, and I just didn't want ANY issues)

RAM timing is how fast the ram can get things done. so, a cas timing of 4, is generally better than a timing of 5.
however, whats more important (to a degree) is the bus speed. (667 vs. 800), however with most machines, unless you overclock, the difference is not noticable.

Its really up to you, the P5K isn't as big of a risk as the first 965 (p5b) board were on release. Its actually more of an update, rather they decided to give it a new platform. It will allow you to upgrade to the new 1333fsb, 45nm processors that intel is coming out with later this year.

Like I said personal choice, although your not taking a gamble on the P5K. As long as you stick to quality, known compatible ram such as the corsair.

P5K has just released, so we don't like to recommend such new boards so easily until they have matured.

That is a solid list. I would stick with the FSP power supply over the XClio.

The only change I suggest is to get a Retail burner instead of OEM. Then it will come with Nero software.
