Google vs. Facebook & Myspace?
Is their goal to infiltrate as many online markets as possible hoping to profit from at least a fraction of them?

Everybody wants a piece of the proverbial pie. Sometimes, though, it's not getting the piece that counts, but is more to prevent the competition from getting it...

i think thats been around awhile, just not that well known? supposed to be popular among brazilian users. dont want to start a debate just one simple mans simple observation- it seems that some english speakers on the net like having foreign language used on the sites they visit. it does seem that google comes out with some 'experimental' thing every month at least... everythings seems to be in progress with them though, almost as bad as microsoft ;)

I think that my cousin is addicted to SL although she hasn't mentioned it in a while.

I looked at second life...and it just seemed rediculous. I'm sorry if anybody here plays, but I mean, whoa, get a 'first' life first.

2nd life (from what I read in articles and were told by fans) is no different than a game like World of Warcraft, except in that the multiplayer interactions and activities are based in a realistic setting instead of fantasy.

Spending hours per day working on a fantasy life when ones real life could use improving makes no sense to me either.

I know that your rig isn't just used for browsing and emailing. The games that you play are no different then 2nd life in that they allow you to play the part of a fictional character.
Although "hours per day" is extreme and I wouldn't condone that either. But there are many people who aren't into shooters or strategy games, but need a break from reality for entertainment just as well. It's the preference to remain in a fantasy world rather than the real one that I object to. But I'm sure that there are many more WoW obsessed teens than Second Life obsessed adults.
Eh, I don't have the patience for those types of games anyhow.
