Newbie needs help

Just built my first pc.. too bad it doesn't work =(

When I turn it on all the fans and everything lights up and starts running, but the monitor is stuck on 'No Signal'. My video card's fan is running, I've checked the ram, cpu & video card connections... I tried everything in http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409 and right now its sitting on cardboard. I don't think I have a short.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it but my psu motherboard connection smells bad and gets worse the more I run it. I'll probably have to replace it regardless.

Might be a bit simple, but if your monitor has both VGA and DVI inputs make sure its set to the correct input.

What are the specs of the machine?

what PSU are you using?

I'm not sure.. its 450W, I bought it with the case and I'm beginning to think its a piece of junk :(
Could it be the power supply? Or does it have to be something else...

It definitely could be the PSU. The units that come with cases are usually junk. What is the model number?

It doesn't really have a brand name.. on the front it says MODEL: 450W and it gives some stats about the amps in and out.. it has a few stickers with #'s and letters is that what you want me to post?

As I said before... theres this funny electrical smell coming out of the power supplies connection to the motherboard.

So even though my fans, and led lights are functioning it could still be the power supply? I'd be extremely happy if thats the case =)

And by that funny electrical smell....it sounds like the PSU. Also...the power to the fans could be fine...but power to the mobo could have killed it.

I suggest you DON'T turn that PC on.

I think its WP060137 but it doesnt show up in that database so im not sure.. the only other number on here is 200623048005
