This would be a sticky for nobs to read before making any post. It would go something like this.

Welcome to pcmech, and thank you for choosing us for all you PC needs whether needing help in getting started with a build, or needing help trouble shooting an existing problem..

If needing assistance with a existing problem, first describe in detail what your problem is. Next and most important, please describe in full detail (as much as possible) the components in your current setup, example

MB:ASUS P5B deluxe
CPU: Intel core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz LGA 775
Video Card: XFX Geforce 8600GTS
Ram: Corsair Value select 2Gigs (2x1gig) DD2 (PC 6400)
PSU: Antec true power 500Watt

Or if a factory built, manufacture name and model# and as much detail of your specs as possible..

This will enable other members to see what parts you have, and which component might be of concern, in your current problem.. If you do not get an immediate response, please be patient, someone will respond as soon as they can. In most cases they are helping out other members such as yourself with trouble shooting a problem with their system.

While waiting for a response to your issue, you might want to read some of the various sticky's in the forum that your posting in. This can be very useful and you might be able to solve the problem on your own (never know it has happened)

We also encourage you to brows our forum and read the many different topics available to you has a member. Topics range from How to build your own PC, Which psu should I use, a guide for trouble shooting an existing build that worked once but doesn't now.. We also have a member store in which you can purchase many of our items that you can use in your building of a PC of just repairing one..

Thank you and once again welcome to pcmech......

I figured something along that line, but there might be someone who can clean it up a little.. Just a thought since that is some of the new members biggest issue when posting...

1) Most peole don't read the stickies for some unknown reason.

2) "What is a CPU? Do I have one in my machine? Is the CPU related to the little floppy drive thingie I'm having problems with?"

3) Did you Read the freakin manual before asking your question...

You're on the right track....I've been posting on sites like this for yearsssssss and have come to the conclusion that there isn't a magic cure....

How do you get all new folks to read it? Something like what you've suggested would be nice, but if folks don't read it it won't do any good. Even if you stick a big "READ ME!" or put this on the registration page people will still skip over it.

I have been to one site a while back who had someting similar.. They had it set up to where the nobs had to read before posting. If the nobs failed then they deleted their threrad... In other words, you need a NOB moderator:)

I think it could work. In a bike forum, there's a sticky requesting info from those who want help choosing a bike. I've seen a lot of new members adhere to the sticky and provide the requested information in their post.

Just like software from say Microsoft you have to accept the license before their software will install... All you do is have the nobs accepts the rules here then when there done the go to this sitcky, when their done reading then they can proceed to post a topic.. I have notice a whole lot lately where people are posting topics and mention nothing about what is or who built there system.. Just I'm having a problem how do I fix it...

In most cases, it will fail. When you enter my Credit Union, there are four signs app. 18x24 and bright pink posted all around the teller area. "Please Do Not Use Cell Phones". Standing behind me are four people, yakking away.........................
