View Full Version : How To Overclock My P-ii Pc?
HELLO EVERYONE I HAVE A P-II 233Mhz PC ON INTEL ATALANTA 440LX MOTHERBOARD
WHIT 64MB OF RAM(SDRAM)
HWO CAN I OVERCLOCK THIS SYSTEM?
Hi,
plese don't write everything in caps, that's considered "shouting".
As to your question: The PII CPUs are multiplier locked, that means that you can it only overclock by increasing the front-side-bus (FSB).
Your PII 233 uses a FSB of 66 MHz, and the LX chipset supports 66 MHz. Anyway if your mainboard lets you increase the FSB, then you can try to overclock it. Just look into the manual for this.
If your mainboard doesn't let you increase the FSB, then you can't overclock it, but you can use PII 266, 300, 333, Celeron 266, 300, 300A, 333, 366, 400, 433. . up to 766 MHz in it.

You can't overclock an Atlanta - you can only put a faster processor in. Genuine Intel LX boards do not have bus speed jumpers. The fastest Slot 1 Celeron was the 466 - anything faster is going to be Socket 370 and may or may not work with a slotket adapter card.

It probably won't work as it is a 100 FSB while the mobo is 66FSB. If it does work it will run at 400 mhz.
Wait a minute. As I reread your post you are talking about both the mobo and processor. I thought we were talking about an Atlanta mobo. All bets are off.
