I'm planning on turning my computer into a 64 bit machine to take advantage of the increase amount of RAM I can get. I currently have a AMD 64 X2 CPU and a 32 bit OS. I'm planning on getting a 64 bit OS. Now not all games can work on a 64 bit system right? and if a certain program/application doesn't have an option to download a 64 bit version, does that mean that software was only meant for 32 bit systems?

There are Very Few 64bit applications.....All 32bit programs will/should work with a 64 bit cpu.

That is kind of how I understand it also. Since the game basically sees it as 32 bits it just ignores all that extra ram you are loading up. Although xp 32 can recognize like 3.2 gigs so you might seem some increase in performance but not sure it would be noticable since most games are optimized for 2 gigs.

From what I know 32bit software on a 64bit OS, say XP64, will run in an emulation mode. I don't know if it works with every 32bit program, it also don't run as fast as it would with a 32bit OS.
