My computer has been having boot up issues and running slow. A few weeks back I had a trojan in my memory. I have since cleaned it out via Avast and I no longer show any virus'. I have a Seagate ultra ATA 100 120 GB hard drive and I ran the seagate diagnostics on it and it told me I have a corrupted partition. Seek help. Can anyone tell me how to correct this? Reasonable software that would correct this? Reload Windows XP?
Any and all help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

How is your drive partitioned?
If the corrupt partition is not your Windows one, then a format may solve the problem.

One single 120 GB drive. No other partitions.

Seatools should do you for reformatting the drive< would suggest going back to a bare drive (factory default) prior to re-installing Windows. Also once done (before Windows install) run the diagnostics again.

Boot with the XP CD and use the repair console, run chkdsk /p. You *may* also have to use fixboot and/or fixmbr. Do NOT do any of this unless you have your data backed up.

If you have another computer use it to connect the drive via USB with an external HDD kit , Do a clean wipe on the drive and reinstall Win Xp. In the future You should have to drives spinning the same thing at all times incase one fails.
