Issues with the ASUS P5K LGA 775

I am not too sure that I want to go with this board. A lot of people are complaining the quality and about vdroop. Will Vdroop be an issue with me? I dont plan on overclocking. plus with all the negative reviews on multiple sites i dont trust the quality of the board.

The P5K is a new motherboard and is going through the typical "teething problems" that all new motherboards go through (this is why I stay away from bleeding edge components). It'll get better with time and newer revisions.

Do the negative reviews have problems running the board under normal conditions? Or just when overclocking? I've heard of Vdroop issues when overclocking but not under normal operating conditions.

All intel based motherboards since 865p I know for a fact do vdroop. Its designed into the cpu/chipset. What your hearing is perfectly normal. It does not harm the cpu, and will not mess up overclocks, except for those who go for very high clocks and records.

And those people who do perform high overclocks, simply modify the board by soldering a pot that will boost voltage, this is only to get a better overclock with less voltage. If someone is that worried about this issue, they should be willing to fix it in order to reach those records. As overclocking is asking for instability no matter what anyway.

All in all, you should not be worried, if anything, the MSI and other lower tier motherboards will have even more problems.

Quality issues should not be anything more then what the older 965p motherboards had, since this is basically just an update to 965p. Although if you feel wary of ASUS, go for Gigabyte. The DS3-R is pretty decent.
