Why are you getting a motherboard with on-board video if you're getting a video card?

The parts selection looks good except for the odd motherboard choice. Why don't you just get the regular P5K (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131180).

Parts look good, that psu might be more than enough for your setup. Try the 520W instead..

I think to answer your question Cricket would be so if the video card is defective he can still boot to the desktop until he gets a replacement.. :p

Before I switch the motherboard, what is a "S/PDIF Out" and a "D-Sub video port?"

As for the PSU, it was suggested for having some head-room to upgrade later on.

Also, Intel processors are supposed to drop on the 22nd. Newegg has already dropped the price on the Quad Q6600, but instead of 266, as I was told, it's 300. Is this just a teaser to try to get people to buy before the real drop or is that it?

I'm curious about the "s/pdif out" myself....

I myself am honestly thinking it's a tease.........they-(newegg) have now dropped the price on the Q6600 4-5 times this week alone--(I've got/have my eye on that processor too :) )

If ya can, wait till tomorrow/Monday to buy, just to make sure. But I gotta tell ya, I'm starting to wonder if, what, 34 bucks it that big a deal to wait on

S/PDIF: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S/PDIF
It's a high-end audio jack.

A high quality 520W psu (such as the corsair 520HX) can handle the 8800GTX....unless you're going to upgrade soon, to something that isn't out yet (nothing pulls more power than the GTX) the 620W isn't a great investment.

Probably. I'd wait 'till the 'real drop' tomorrow and see what newegg's prices do.

The other thing I'm worried about is that it might go out of stock if I wait too long. Does that happen often or should I not need to worry.

Well, it's the 22nd, and the Q6600 is still 300.
Maybe I'll wait a bit longer...

The price drops may not happen right away. Newegg may be selling off some of their stock that was bought at the old price.

Before I switch the motherboard, what is a "D-Sub video port?"The "D-Sub video port" is the analog video port...that motherboard has on-board video and that's the connection for the monitor.

How long do you suppose Newegg will wait to drop the price further, if they decide to do it at all?

I would assume they will dio it today. Other sites have already dropped the prices yesterday and are offering E6750, etc.

Aah, it went up to 320! What are they trying to do!?

Aah, it went up to 320! What are they trying to do!?Supply and demand. The supply of Q6600 must be low but the demand is high...vendors will raise the price to see what the market will bear to increase their profit margin.

The price drop reflects what Intel charges for processors coming out of their fabs. If a vendor has existing processors they won't sell those at the new lower prices because they paid a higher price for them. We have to wait until they start to buy the processors at the new lower prices and then we'll see the price drops.

Thanks for humoring me. I'm not that familiar with the antics of computer companies.
