Is this stuff compatible?

I am building a new gaming PC, was just wondering if anyone sees something in this setup that is not compatible? I was wonder also about the graphics card fitting into this motherboard (it needs 16x slots). Later I will be buying another 2gigs of ram and another 8800 to go in sli. Also if anyone sees something I'm forgetting too. The network card is built into the board right? So I wont have to buy something els to go online? Thanks.

Your spending alot of money that you don't really need to.

The Ultra is only slightly better then the GTX, but costs alot more. A GTX will run anything out there right now. Also, SLi isn't the best idea money wise, because it's better to put that money to a next generation card, but it seems you have the money so why not :confused:

However, even if you HAVE the money, DDR3 is not the way to go right now. The latency is still high and the price is just way too high. Go with one of the other P5K motherboards paired with Corsair XMS DDR2.

Ok, I'm primarily getting the rig to play Crysis, which if you are familiar with the game, you will know is about the max stress that any pc could be put under. I was really looking at getting 4 gigs right off of the XMS 800 or higher, so you think I should get DDR2 then? I was thinking ahead 2 years down the road about the fact that DDR3 might be the standard, bu then I would only have a DDR2 board. Not sure what you mean about a next generation card...arent the 8800 ultra and gtx about the best things going? (both dx10). Also, I just looked again...isnt the board I listed "crossfire" (ati) ready...that means i need a board (from asus) that is sli ready....what one would that be?

PS: I'm actually not rich...i have been saving for about 4 years while playing my crappy old rig on Farcry. I really want to get a wicked rig, but one that makes te most sense for both now and in the near future. I apreciate the help because I have never built a PC from the ground up, just put in cards, psu, ram etc...

Yeah, two years down the road you will have to buy a new motherboard and RAM but DDR3 is just too new right now. I don't think there was any performance increase over DDR2, especially if you are not overclocking. You will see no performance increase with 800mhz RAM over 667mhz RAM unless you overclock.

With the video cards, when you buy 1 with the Idea of buying another down the road, its not the best idea because of how fast computers, and video cards, advance. There is a new generation of video cards every 6 months- A year. It would be better to have 1 new card then 2 old ones. But if you want the best performance, then go for it !

From the P5K line? No there is no Sli version. There are Asus Intel Sli motherboards though.

Maybe one of those would be better, and later down the road with crossfire. So basically an p5k line asus board with 4 gig s of corsair and that car would be cheaper and better?

No I wouldn't go with a 2900XT. The GTX is much better. If you really want Sli, there are SLi boards from Asus that are Intel compatible. You'll have to wait for someone else to recommend one of those, I don't know much about them. If you decide against SLi, go with something from the P5K line.

The 4th one is the same one you posted just before this, will work great.

Edit: Just be warned it only had 2 PCI slots since it has 3 PCI-E 16x and 1 PCI-E 1x, is supposedly buggy without BIOS update and has limited RAM compatibility.

Ok, thanks. Now a couple questions for Halo Addict.

Would the third one in the list be actually the best, if I were to go for a higher frequency RAM like 1333 for example, instead of the 800mhz dominator XMS2?

When the list on that site "Intel quad-core compatible" is that the same as "Intel Core 2 Quad"

Another thing....what do I have to look out for when i'm putting together the pc, as far as cables go? I know that the psu will have enough cables of rthe gfx card, processor etc, but what about the case leds, the start and restet switch etc...is that usually part of the case, included in the motherboard, or as part of the psu?

Any Dominator should work fine although you probably won't see a big performance increase unless you do lots of overclocking. I would say get non-Dominator corsair ram that is rated for the same speeds. The Dominator at stock speeds will be just as fast, but you could probably get the dominator timing a little faster than 4-4-4-12.

Yes the "Intel quad-core compatible" means the Core 2 Quad CPUs will work.

The reset switch, power switch, HDD LED etc will plug directly into the motherboard. As far as cables to supply power, your power supply will have enough for what you are doing and more. Every other cable you will need should be included with the motherboard.

As far as the 3rd mobo listed being the best, not necessarily. The striker extreme has an amazing feature set, but you need to have a good power supply, supported RAM and you will only get 2 PCI slots. I am not sure what PCI devices you may need.
