View Full Version : can i use old sata drive in pc upgrade?

after two years fried my mobo,so i decided to upgrade to new mobo ,pci-e,new cpu,memory,and video card,BUT iwant to keep my old sata drive and ALL thats on it ,including the xp operating system.i was told no problem as long as mobo supported sata,anything else i should know? its a seagate 160 gb.

You can use your old SATA HDD if you do a WinXP Repair Install. (http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=151522) You still have your WinXP installation CD, right?

craaaaaaap! i dont know,if not, am i screwed?i sure hate to lose all that i have on this HDD. had problem early on with pc,took it to my local pc shop ,for some reason they reloaded operating system off a cd from their shop. but i do have my originial cd copy.
