Hi! I'm a little ignorant about DVD drives, so I'm not sure what exactly determines compatibility between my computer and a DVD drive. I was looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135097, but I wasn't sure. I took a SS highlighting what I hope is relevant to my problem. Sorry if it doesn't: http://img260.imageshack.us/my.php?image=diskob1.jpg
NOTE: "MAxtor 6Y160PO" was listed under Disk Drives. The title got cut off.
There's normally no problems with a DVD drive working with a specific system, although sometimes there can be.
Buy the drive, and try it. If no luck, then return it for a different brand. However, since this process can start piling up shipping costs, it's recommended that you buy the drive locally.

Or are you just trying to determine if that DVD drive will work with your computer or not?
What kind of computer do you have? Home built or name brand?
What are the specs of the computer? List all the parts by brand and model including the OS and the power supply.
Off hand I'd say you won't have a problem installing that DVD drive...but wouldn't you rather have a DVD burner instead? More versatile.
If you just need the DVD player, replace that Samsung CD drive with the ASUS DVD player.
