wireless router question

Hi,

basically, I need to buy a wireless router, but since I need the signal to go through at least two thick walls, I would like to know what specifications I should look for in a router.

What determines how strong the signal output is?

Could someone either explain to me how I should go about choosing the router, or better yet recomend me one from newegg.

I run a Linksys WRT54GS, it has a excellent signal output, I can pick up a signal from the farthest room in my house.
