Alright, so I just went out today and bought a BFG 8800GTS OC video card, along with a new PSU. Unfortunately, the PSU I bought was garbage and was not compatible with my motherboard. Now, on the back of the package for this card, it says 425watt PSU reccomended...or something along those lines. My computer Im working with is a Dell 4700, and Im fairly sure the PSU in it currently is around 309watts. Would even trying to run this card with my current setup kill it?

Welcome to PCMech.

Dell power supplies are good quality but that would be too much of a stretch to work properly. The computer wouldn't be damaged most likely but I wouldn't bother trying it without a new power supply. Dell power supplies cannot be replaced with any old unit off the shelf unfortunately but you can order some units from PC Power and Cooling because they have some they guarantee work. Check out this unit: http://www.pcpower.com/products/viewproduct.php?show=S47D

Thankyou very much. I just ordered it a little while ago. So I should have it fairly soon.
