I'm trying to set up a wireless network for a friend and was wondering if these parts are going to work:

LINKSYS WRT54GL IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless-G Broadband Router
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16833124190

GIGABYTE GN-WP01GS PCI Wireless Adapter - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16839121008

I guess the router is linux based; I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
This is going in an eMachines with Windows XP.
Thanks

Would be best to match the router and adapter with the same brand. A Linksys adapter is more $ but less likely to have connection issues.

How about these two:

BUFFALO WHR-HP-G54 IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless-G MIMO Broadband Router and Access Point
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16833162134

BUFFALO WLI2-PCI-G54S 32-Bit PCI Bus Wireless-G 125 High-Speed Adapter
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16833162111

twice as fast it appears.

Is Buffalo a good brand?

Well anyway, the network is up and running with a strong signal. Easy enough to set up for a first timer.

EDIT: I ended up buying the Buffalo Router and Adapter
