Built my system 3.5 years ago, haven't had any problems. Using a Radeon Pro 9800, 128mb video card. AGP 8x
Just lately started having some lines, and pixelating after the computer is running a while, but starting to happen in shorter time periods.
The computer get used heavily for games.
Changed monitors, and does the same thing. I unplugged, cleaned and installed the card back in, worked for a couple days, then started again to have problems.
I'm thinking it's time to get a new video card, but wondered if it could be a Motherboard problem.
What do you guys think before I buy a new card?

Does sound like the problem is with the video card. Could be that the heatsink for the GPU has lost contact and causing overheating. Could also be that the caps on the VC are getting dried out and causing power regulation problems.

What are "caps" on the video card? Excuse my ignorance.....

caps = capacitors. Did you clean out the whole insides while you were in there? Is the fan still spinning?

I just did a real thorough cleaning. I'll see what happens.

You know what's even more random? I actually have that problem myself!?
Back on topic: That board only has an AGP slot. If you're not planning on upgrading anything else, this article might help you choose a cheap AGP card that still outperforms the 9800 until you go with a PCI-E board:

This happened to me. My 128MB 9800 Pro displayed lines everywhere. I believe the fan stopped spinning and it overheated.

Put a new video card in and problem is fixed.
Bought a NVIDIA GE Force 7600 GS 512B.
Having issues with perfomance though. Ran PC Pitstop test and says its under performing with the FPS?
