Hello people . I had posted about this sometime ago, but never got the person who it belongs to get me the info or drop the thing off. Basically he wants to connect it to his wireless link sys router. It has no PCMCIA ports so its going to have to be done with a usb device . Any recommendations ? And will I have any problems with an Apple and connections to a link sys router with other laptops non Apple type connecting also to the link sys ????????

:)

Thanks all

Al

Doesn't it have apple's built in "air port" wireless? (That's standard 802.11b for those of us not in mac land).

Apparently you can install one: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58535

If you go the usb route, just make sure that the device you get is Mac compatible. Beyond that, there's no issue mixing macs and pcs and a linksys router; it's the beauty of standardized networking protocols :-)

Does it matter which G# model it is? This site has separate links depending on how old the laptop is: http://www.apple.com/support/ibook/diy/order.html

BUT, they all lead to the same PDF describing the same procedure for installing the Airport card. I can't find anywhere to purchase an airport card on Apple's site though! Maybe call your local mac store?

If you go usb, it doesn't matter which iBook model it is, just that the usb wireless adapter is compatible with the OS.
