Hi gang
Say you have a video card on your computer, and it has a s-video connection, and a digital and analog connection too. Now what do you need to watch TV on your computer. And going a little further with this once you watch it what else can you do with it.
I have been curious about this for a long time, and it had got the best of me. I have to ask. I have tried looking it under Google and things like that but I cannot find a clear and to the point explanation of it, they usually are trying to sell you some thing.
Thanks and take care.........Gunny...P.S. I was told no question is a stupid one by some of your best on here. ha ha ha

If by digital and analog you mean the DVI and VGA connectors (white with a bunch of pins, and blue with fewer pins) then s-Video, digital and analog just allow you to watch computer on your TV (they only do output, so you can use a television like a monitor, with S-Video, for instance).
To watch broadcast television on your computer, you need a TV Tuner card. A decent one will come with software to watch and possibly record shows.

Glad the explanation helped!
I don't have any experience with tuner cards myself, so I'd wait and see what others recommend.

The tuner card that you need depends a lot on what kind of TV source you want to connect to it. Are we talking regular analogue cable or something different (satellite, digital cable for example).
The software that comes with such cards will allow you to watch TV on your computer monitor. Are you also looking to hook up a regular TV to your computer with which to view the signal?

Hi Feakitchen
Yes I m with Directv, satellite TV. Digital signal. Ya that is what I want to do run the tv though my computer. Have you had any experience doing this. Have you heard of Directv.
Thanx.....Gunny
The BeyondTV site shows you exactly what you need and how to do it.

It has a complete list of compatible tuner cards. You also need a IR Blaster or serial port tuning cable to tune your set top box, it's all explained there.
