Ok...so I just installed Windows XP Pro SP2 on a Laptop that currently had XP Home, so everything is wiped and I'm on a clean slate. After installation, I put in the ethernet cord to connect to my Cable Modem, but nothing is happening. I feel like I should know how to get this to work, but I don't...so help please? :)

open network connections, do you see a Local Area Connection?

^ no, there are no connections.

I went to device manager, and it turns out that my ethernet controller, network controller, and pci controller are all not working. I tried to reinstall them but I cannot connect to the internet...this is becoming a mess. Should I just buy another network adapter for my laptop?

no, just install the drivers for them, if you don't have a drivers cd you can download drivers from the manufacturers website.

That's the problem! I can't connect to the internet on my laptop to install them from the site!

I have a desktop thats working, if that helps.

Download the driver install file on the desktop and put it on a cd or flash drive or floppy, and run it on the laptop.

Yakyu Spirits. Do not "bump" a thread after only eight minutes, this is a forum not a chat room, I also removed your pointless last post.

Find the driver disc that came with the laptop and reload the drivers. You've probably noticed by now that lots of other things like sound and decent video don't work either...

Hopefully your disc supports XP. If not, find someone with internet and CD burner or get yourself a flash drive.
