I just got a portable logitech laser mouse for my laptop, it's incredible. beats the crap out of the optical one i have on my desktop. I also have a microsoft wireless one for my laptop that i keep in my laptop case, It's laser also but not quite as good. the one issue i have with the laser is it doesn't work on my kitchen table (tile-like surface)

Used optical for years until a few months ago I got myself a logitech MX revolution (which is awesome). I am surprised 3 of the first 5 were laser instead of optical. I didn't think laser was catching on that quickly, it will be interesting to see the results.

Xena what do you use your computer(s) for? I know the tablets are very popular in professional art / design jobs but using it at home too? Do you do a lot of work from home? But I guess if you use one all the time at work and you are used to it using one at home wouldn't be a bad idea.

MX Revolution (laser) here. Other mice for other computers are optical, I only have one regular ball mouse left.

I'm a tech writer by day, use mostly Framemaker, a bit of Photoshop and Illustrator, Word and Lotus Notes. The tablet is excellent for graphics work, but actually you use the stylus as a mouse replacement, you hold the stylus like a pen hover it over the tablet to move the pointer, tap the tablet to click, and use a button on the shaft of the stylus to double-click or right-click. It takes about a day or so to get used to. There is also a mouse that works along with the tablet, but I rarely use it. The stylus/tablet is much easier on my wrist, which was really starting to hurt after about 20 years of daily heavy computer use.

At home I use the computer more for photo editing, general surfing, and such. When I play the occasional game, I just use a regular mouse or the Wacom mouse.

Currently I'm using a Logitech G7 laser mouse for gaming....and love it.

I'm still using my Logitech MX 510 for google/internet surfing, basically everything but gaming.

I used trackballs for a whole lot of years... Never even owned a mouse then. My Logitech Marble FX is still in the PS2 port but I use the MX 1000 virtually exclusively. Before that I had the MX 700, and can't remember before that.

At the moment I really only use my laptop, and I use it everywhere, so I am stuck on a trackpad. I recently purchased a Mac Mini (An impulsive buy after my first paycheck, but I like the Mac world and have been out of it for 7 years, so I figure there is worse I could have done :D) and will need to get a keyboard and mouse once I get down to college, so I am now on the lookout for wireless keyboard/mouse combo's. I wish Bluetooth keyboards/mice weren't so darned expensive.

I used to have a Logitech MX1000 laser mouse, which was fantastic. Couldn't tell the difference between the response time of that and an optical mouse, but it was wireless, no need to buy AA's, and the battery held a charge for a long while. Fantastic little creation right there.

Used to have a trackball until I tried games. Something seemed off about the combination. My dad won't use anything but a trackball.

I use to buy nothing but keyboards with a built-in trackball right where your thumbs hang out. This was really good for most uses, and games back then were DooM and Duke Nukem 3D. Once I started getting into "newer" games, ya, I had to get a mouse :eek: ;)

I have a MX1000 which is still superb, an LX7 and an LX7 laser version from a wireless KB combo.

I've also got a Wacom Graphire tablet, but I rarely use it. It's great when used with MS OneNote though and for editing documents.

Logitech MX Duo Mouse (MX700 = Optical) on my desktop. Microsoft Optical Intellimouse on my laptop. I'm amazed by the logitivity of both of them - I've had the Intellimouse for well over five years now.

I use a pretty cheap mouse I bought at walmart for like $10. It's a nice basic mouse, its optical and I love it! Optical (or laser) is 10x better than ball.

Huh... I think that's the one my dad uses! His only complaint was the mild resistance when the ball rolled. With his old one, you could seriously twitch and the ball would start flying, the cursor following.

G7 cordless laser from a MX510 corded optical. Dont really notice a difference other then the lack of a cord.
Only way I could justify buying such a fancy mouse is I got it heavily discounted, $59.99 from $137.

I use the Microsoft Internet Explorer Trackball, which is a corded trackball... I have two, and would have more if you could still buy them. Best mouse I've ever had, so comfortable. Only down-side is it's size, but as that adds to comfort I'm happy with that

I prefer the MS Intellimouse Explorer corded optical mice. I have one that has been in use for 7 years and it still functions correctly.
