I have recently moved my website from Verio to Godaddy and I am having difficulty setting up my email. I have added an email address to my website and it says "Pending setup:validating MX record". Godaddy states the following in regards to this:

When setting up an email account, you may receive the "pending setup: validating MX record" while the system verifies your email account is using the correct MX records. If the MX records are correct, the message disappears. If the message remains, the MX records you specified in your hosting provider or domain name system manager may be incorrect. Your hosting provider is where your domain is hosted; your domain name system manager is a third-party domain manager where you might manage your domain settings, such as your DNS servers or MX records.

If the MX records are incorrect, you can add the correct MX records in your hosting provider or third-party domain name system manager.
To Change the MX Record

1. Log on to your hosting provider or third-party domain name system manager.
2. Change your MX records to:
* MX 0 - smtp.secureserver.net
* MX 10 - mailstore1.secureserver.net

I have done what they say to do here but I cant get the "Pending setup message to go away" Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You generally keep the MX records with the domain. In other words if you change hosts then you will change the Nameserver that you are using. The MX records would go with that change so you shouldn't have to change them separately unless you want to host your email somewhere besides where you host your site.

Have you moved your website over to GoDaddy and is it resolving to the new site?

I transferred everything over to godaddy. Domain name, hosting, email.....
The transfer of the domain and hosting all look good. I can login to the control panel, FTP files, etc. Everything looks good except this issue with my email....:mad:

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. The MX (mail) record as well as the domain name both resolve to GoDaddy's servers. It looks like you made changes to the domain on 8/20 so maybe they haven't propagated properly yet. Not really much else you can do beside try to contact GoDaddy's support if your mail still isn't being delivered.

Godaddy may be a good domain registrar, but their web and mail hosting leaves a LOT to be desired.

That is being kind. Non-existent customer support along with limited setup access don't make GoDaddy very easy to use.

I have a few people who use Gmail for their domain email. Works pretty well.

Uhgggg....I am starting to learn that this is a classic case of "You get what you pay for"

I got the MX records thing straightened out but now I cant check my email in outlook or outlook express. I keep getting an 0x800CCC92 error message telling me the server has rejected my loging. I know that the username and passwords are both the same in the account options and in the control panel @ godaddy. I have followed their directions exactly as they have them in regards to setting up the accounts in outlook and outlook express but I can check either of the 2 accounts that I have set up so far. :mad:
