Using a Temperature Display?

I am doing my first build and i have everything ready to go hardware wise, but i dont know what to do with the LED temperature display. i saw somewhere on here to put the sensor by the cpu, but i have no idea what to do with it. how do i power it and where am i supposed to put the orange sensor?

Hi TippyP8ntball and Welcome to pcmech. First off, what are your computer specs? It's really not necessary to have a cpu sensor but until I know what your specs are I don't want to give you the incorrect info.

it is part of the case, the case is a power up silver 5511 atx mid-tower with 450 watt power supply

Are you using a PowerUp power supply? If you are seriously consider replacing it as soon as you can. It's a cheap low quality power supply that could damage your computer if it happens to die suddenly.

Could you post the complete system specs of this computer.

yea, and yes i think it is a power up power supply.

I don't know how your particular temperature display gets it's power from (does it have a 4 pin power connector coming from it?), but you don't want to put the orange sensor between the CPU and the heatsink. You want to put it on the side of the CPU (again, not between the CPU and the heatsink but on the side of it) or somewhere near the middle of the heatsink between the fins.

Personally, I wouldn't even use it.

From the picture of the case it looks like there should be either a 4 pin molex connector or 3 pin mini power connector coming from it to power it. Place the sensor on or near the cpu heatsink.

Also that motherboard should have its own cpu sensor, i think you just need a program like speedfan to monitor it. Actually it should come with the Asus Probe program that should let you monitor the cpu temp

ok, well i took off the front panel again, and i guess there was a 4 pin power connector in there, so i got it working now. lol. except now its in celcius, is there anyway to convert it to fareinheiht?
