I found 3x of those RAM chips in my friends computer. With all three combined and with windows 2k he has like 98mb of RAM. I told him his stuff was obselete, but he wanted to install a printer but the HP install wont let him get any further in the install because he is short a few MB Of RAM.

Does anyone remember the next step up for RAM of this type? It didnt have any markings on it, save for that model number. Is it possible to upgrade these RAM modules to something just as old, but a little higher in total RAM capacity?

im guessing its some pc66 or pc100 ram. hopefully pc100 as it may be more plentiful. try looking at www.dealram.com you can search by system assuming he didnt build it and find matching ram with halfway decent prices. could be a starting point at least. youll probably be looking for a 128 or 256 mb stick, in the 10-30 buck range.

Would your friend consider buying a newer computer? That one sounds like a dinosaur.

Have the user go to www.crucial.com and let their site scan the PC for ram type
