Got a dear friend flying in from England around Christmas so am thinking of driving her down to San Diego for the NFL Football game on December 16 against the Detroit Lions.
Goooooo Chargers!
I've only been to 4 pro ballgames in my life. 3 of them were Chargers games in the early 80's, can you say Air Coryell? Never seen a long bomb thrown so perfectly since.
What games have you seen that are memorable? And which do you plan on seeing this season?

i have only seen one game live in my life. it was two years ago, pre-season. Giants at Patriots.
I flew home on leave from Nigeria and caught that game. I treated my dad to it. I even offered to drive the whole way there and back.
I would love to see another one...and even better if i don't get a nose bleed this time...lol

When I use to live on the other coast, I use to go to Redskin games all the time because I got free tickets. Had a lot of fun. Haven't been to any live games in years, though. Burnt out on the crowds and hassles and $10 beers.

I think my favorite play I saw with my own eyes in a live NFL game was when we were playing the Raiders and the score was tied or we were barely losing and Dan Fouts passed to Kellen Winslow who leapt up with a lone Raider defender covering him, caught the ball and fell to the ground at the 4 yard line and paused for a quarter second til he realized the hapless Raider hadn't touched him and rolled into the endzone for the winning score. Oooh, it don't get much better than that!

Yeah, my tickets back then were free, too. A retired Navy patient of mine used to give me a couple of his season tickets a year. So, after 25 years, I can't wait to see another one.

When I lived in Buffalo, 1st my family and then I had season tickets, so I have seen the Bills from the doldrums of the 70's at the "rockpile" thru the big 4 years in early 90's (at Rich Stadium and now the "Ralph"). I can count on 1 hand the number of Bills games I missed from 1970 to 1999 and 2 of them were when I was a kid and had chicken pox and they had 2 home games in a row.
Since I have moved down south, I have the NFL Sunday ticket (and due to location I get every NFL game, every week, no blackouts for this boy) and will travel to Wash, Baltimore and Charlotte to see the Bills when they come to town.

For the past five years Ive been going up to Detroit to catch the Lions vs. Packers game. This year though I plan on making the 9 hour pilgrimage to Green Bay to see a game at, football mecca, Lambeau Field.
Last years Lions vs. Packers game I think was the best, Favre had 3 TD tosses and I got to see him throw a 75 yard strike to Greg Jennings making it Favres 400th career TD, making Favre and Marino the only two QB's to reach 400 career TD's. It was an exciting game throughout with a final score of 31-24 and win for the Pack.

My last pro games were back when the Cowboys played in the Cotton Bowl. Watched Don Meredith get his nose broken seemingly every game.
Good luck getting Packers tickets and finding a place to stay anywhere near Green Bay. You pretty much have to know people.

Nope- but I watched most of a game once on TV- kinda had to since we were in a sports bar and it was hard not to. It was a work event and since both me and my wife worked there and we were representing the 'old crew' who had moved into TX from CA and it was a CA vs TX game attendance was kinda mandatory - It was a superbowl in the mid 1990's.

i used to go to most of the redskins preseason games in the early to mid eighties. the tix were only 10-15 bucks. the good ol days i guess. now preseason tix are pretty much the same price as regular season. i plan on seeing a skins game this year. i want to see them host the cowboys, but since its at the end of december i dont know. with normal traffic its about a 2 hour drive, but since its I95 and the weekend, its probably closer to 3-4 hours. so we'll just take the subway to the stadium and save time driving.

Yes, I am hoping a fellow cheesehead will see my post and let me crash in their barn for a night :D
Ive been very successful finding lions vs. packers tickets in detroit cheap but thats not really saying much. I don't think the attendance is that good there.

I dont think Lions games are considered NFL anyway. I'd love to come see the Millen Man March though.

You could see half of a NFL game when you see the Lions play since there is another team there. That's not applicable if they happen to play the Raiders.

so does that mean when the lions play the raiders is not a game, just a punch of guys running around and throwing a ball??

I like watching the Niners and the Raiders on TV when they get into the playoffs....which is a pretty rare occurrence now. With a high def TV, I cant imagine paying for tickets any longer. Better yet, with a high def Tivo, I cant imagine watching all those commercials either.
I did see the Raiders play once in person....the Raider Fans are not as bad as reputation has it.
BTW, I was in the sports betting area at the MGM Grand in Vegas last night...talk about sports heaven. Three football games, basketball, tennis and two baseball games were all on at the same time. Good stuff.

Went to a preseason game with my sweetie on Friday. We had a blast. I'm sooooooo glad she likes football, even if she is a Steeler's fan.

No NFL for me; however, I'll be at 8 of Purdue's 12 games, so I'll be pretty busy. :)
I love college sports, especially football. I personally feel like the players are out there for the love of the game and their school, and that's impressive to me.

Just watched the Rams stink up their home opener against Carolina... Dunno if I'll waste another Sunday afternoon on them this year...

Do my eyes an ears deceive me?!! Did the lowly Lions actually win today - on the road no less - and in Oakland?!! Wow! I'm impressed. Even when it got close to going to Oakland in the 4th quarter the Lions came back and actually played some D. Unheard of in previous years.
I won't be making it to any of their games but I must be a masochist. I accepted an invitation (as I do every year) from some good friends for my wife and I to join them next week Sat to see if Notre Dame can give the Michigan Wolverines their 3rd loss in a row to start the season. I sure hope not or the ride home is gonna be a long one. ;)

Well, my Chargers were true to form today.
LT, as usual, came out on top. He's about to break Sweetness's NFL record for passing TD's.
And the D? Bravissimo!
