I am replacing my stock Intel HSF on my e6850 with a Zalman 9700. I know the Zalman comes with its own thermal grease but I was wondering if I would be better suited with using AS5 instead? Any suggestions?

Regards

Just use what Zalman supplies with their heatsink. I'm sure it's better than plain old generic stuff.

The zalman grease that came with my zalman heatsink was really good.

So good, I even bought the after market Zalman thermal grease in the little nail polish container.

Doesn't really matter what you use, If you only have the Zalman grease, use it. Don't go out and buy AS5 if you dont need it..

I ended up using the Zalman greese. Everything worked out great. My temps seen a significant decrease after the install. Man the stock Intel HSF really sucks. :)

I actually prefer the Zalman TIM over Artic Silver 5...

the trick is to put it on thin...I just put it on the cpu...

I put a small brush full on the cpu and spread that over the core area and not the full IHS..

I also rub in a dab on the heatsink but rub it off with lint free towel...

Best temps I have ever seen...2c lower than my best AS5 application
