I thought I read several times somewhere that on socket 939 CPU's it is easier to overclock when you use, for example, 2x1gb sticks versus 4x512mb sticks. I don't remember exactly what I think I read, but my question is this: Does the memory controller have to work hard with 4 sticks vs 2 sticks, and if so is it a heat issue? So saying it would be better to run 2 sticks instead of 4, because temps on the die would stay slightly lower since it would be working as hard thus would be able to possible increase the clock a little more.

Thanks,

Craig

If all 4 sticks are being used, then more power has to flow thru the memory controller with 4 than with 2. So it will heat up more. Also, the PS has to work harder with 4 sticks.
