my laptop speakers both work fine, however when i plug in headphones or external speakers only the right side produces sound. I have tested the external speakers and headphones on other devices and I know they work fine. This is a new problem with my laptop, have never had this issue before. there doesn't seem to be any issues with device manager and i receive no error messages either. I'm guessing it's sound card related, or the SPDIF port related. Any suggestions?
Make sure all of your sound card's balance settings are correctly adjusted.
If so, then the port may be buggered.

went through every sound option and made sure everything was balanced, and set correctly. so i'm guessing it has to be the port, so does that mean i'm "buggered" and have to send the lappy back to acer for warrenty repair?
Are there any local shops that are certified to do Acer warranty work?

You could get a USB sound card if it's out of warranty.
If it's still in warranty, call up Acer, see what they have to say about it.

i can have acer repair it, i know it's still good for warrenty. it's jut a hassle because i'm a student and need my laptop. The acer repair place is 20hrs away and it'll take 10 days from start to finish before i see it again. just a hassle is all.
