The well known Samsung 226BW has Resolution spec at 700:1 (DC 3000:1). But what does DC mean in that case?
From what I know, DC often stand for Direct Current. If so, then are yu saying that the LCD will show 3000:1 resolution if powered w/ DC?

The well known Samsung 226BW has Resolution spec at 700:1 (DC 3000:1). But what does DC mean in that case? From the Samsung FAQ: "DC - Dynamic Contrast. Dynamic Contrast is the ratio of the luminosity (brightness) of the brightest and darkest color a monitor can produce when displaying a changing (dynamic) picture over time.
This is opposed to Static Contrast (SC), which is the ratio of the luminosity of the brightest and darkest color a monitor can produce when displaying a static (unchanging) picture at a given moment."
Has nothing to do with the resolution.

I think what does is it changes the brightness of the backlight dynamically based on what is being displayed.

Sounds like more of a marketing gimmick to me. Doesn't matter though, Samsung makes nice monitors, you'll be happy with it.
