Hi' I'm looking to buy a icy box 3.5 IDE Usb led aluminium enclosure.
I'm hoping someone can answer these two questions.
1. Are they good. I mean sturdy. Will anything break if u change the harddrives in them often?
2. The package doesn't say if it also works with Vista. Does it?
Thanks for reading this

Thanks for reading thisI've seen a few previous threads regarding Icy Box external HDD housings and they seem to be problematic (cheaply made, low quality). I wouldn't use one.

Apricorn external housings have a good reputation on this forum.

Nope, you have to take what you can get with enclosures over here. IcyBox are hit and miss, I'd only bother with their more expensive models - this being an example:

(Overclockers do deliver to Ireland, but not sure how decent their prices are for that)

I also had a look at the enclosures at Komplett.ie - they have this Akasa unit, which are a respected brand, though I don't know anything about their enclosures.

You shouldn't have to worry about Vista compatibility with these enclosures.
